OUR STORY…

When Michellé and Kevin first met, Kevin was a client whose vehicle needed wrapping. Kevin, however, unable to keep his eyes off Michellé, rapidly forgot about the wrapping ! To this day it remains a mystery as to whether he knew which colour vinyl was required.

They met once again a few years later and commenced working together. From the outset there was a spark between them – the kind that others could notice, but not them.

Neither of the two wished to be the first to make advances. Kevin calmly bided his time; Michellé waited patiently …. for approximately five minutes!

She then decided “enough is enough” and invited herself for a barbeque at Kevin’s home – a very subtle approach, of course!
Initially they decided to remain merely friends – a decision that lasted as long as wi-fi connectivity during load shedding.

The following day Kevin arrived with sushi and a planned brief visit became conversation, laughter and the sharing of stories that lasted for hours. By then it was clear: this “friendship” was getting out of hand.

The next step was to invite Kevin to a van der Merwe family meal. Now any man that is able to survive that level of chaos deserves a medal from the outset!

The day was filled with much laughter, many jokes and the rowdiness of people talking simultaneously. Michellé’s daughter Megan naturally gave Kevin the ultimate “evil eye” as she attempted to gauge him. At the conclusion of the tumultuous visit Michellé was convinced that Kevin would flee, but he did not.

On 13 November 2019 Kevin wrote Michellé a letter in which he asked her to be his girlfriend (naturally, he did so in the most
gentlemanly manner).

A few years later the great day arrived. Before Kevin could propose to Michellé, he had to approach Megan and Michellé’s
parents for their permission. Attempting to maintain secrecy was almost more difficult than the proposal itself. Unknown to Michellé, Kevin then arranged a surprise week-end for him, Michellé and Megan.

During a game drive Michellé had to respond to clues and answer questions as part of Kevin’s clever strategy. During the course of the romancing a squirrel ran across the road. Unable to recall the word “squirrel” at that moment, Michellé, in
deadly earnest, shouted: “Look at the Akkermonkey !” To this very day that creature will never again be an ordinary squirrel!

At the conclusion of this adventure Kevin eventually went down on one knee and proposed to Michellé with the most beautiful sunset as a backdrop. Before he could do so, however, he had to urge her to come closer as she was supported by crutches!

Megan assisted with the design of Michellé’s engagement ring, which made the occasion extra special.

Naturally, Michellé said “YES”.
